A new take on what subnatica "could be" ![]() Decent play time (depending on how you play) Lore rich expansion to the original story, with "side" elements included In my opinion it's well worth the full price and if you enjoyed the first game it's definitely worth picking up. The most important thing is to go into it with an open mind not expecting "just another subnatica". Overall it's a really good game and I don't have any major gripes. There is a moderate focus on the above ground sections of the map which are done moderately well (much better than you'd expect for a submarine game!). The base building has been expanded with lots more personalization in the form of posters, jukeboxes and trinkets. Some of the old vehicles have made a return with some new/improved ones. The playable map IS smaller than the original but it's much more dense and alive. It does a great job at expanding on the original story while still staying true to the world created in the first game. The world is even prettier than the original but feels much safer and more alive (albeit still horrifying). It doesn't make you feel as desolate with the addition of AI characters (including one very close to yourself, no spoilers). Below zero expands and changes the concepts of the original Subnatica. ![]() It's not trying to be the original and that's not a bad thing. ![]() It stands as an amazing game in it's own right. If you understand that before playing for the first time you will LOVE this game. It's not the original Subnatica and nothing ever will be.
